Having been chosen as the Lead for Aquarian Cladding Fundraising for 2024 Julian is signing off this year with something a bit different… and the sad irony is not missed that it’s been announced yesterday that the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) is activated in Bristol from Tuesday, 19th November until the morning of Friday, 22nd November. This means anyone currently sleeping rough will be able to access emergency shelter with additional accommodation made available to ensure no one sleeps out in these weather conditions… but they do.
In 2 weeks time, on Tuesday, 3rd December, a team from Aquarian Cladding, consisting of Julian, Emma Gilbert, Jake McVitty, Jazz Rigden, Paul Richards and Chris Gill will be working with local Bristol charity,(HHB), throughout the day and evening. We will be preparing food and snack packs, building care packs, and assisting with everything that goes into getting ready for the evening’s Outreach in the City Centre. Then we’ll join the HHB volunteers to distribute essential supplies like food, sleeping bags, gloves, hats, and foil blankets. The weather is only going to get worse…
Founded in 2017 by Hayley Jennings, HHB provides essential supplies, outreach programs, and transitional support, helping individuals move from the streets to a pathway of stability and independence, but that can be a long path. The team at HHB provide around the clock support to vulnerable people, with last weekend alone resulting in 65 phone calls, 5 messages, 2 video calls, numerous emails and three deliveries on donations.
Homelessness is a pressing issue, and by partnering with HHB, we aim to raise awareness and funds to help them continue their vital work.
Our goals for this event are twofold:
Raise Awareness: Promote HHB’s Poverty Pledge. For just £1 a month, you can provide much-needed, regular support to enable HHB to continue their work. Your monthly donation can make a significant difference. You can also make a one off donation of any amount, every little helps and the link is here: Donate
Fundraising: Help HHB raise funds for a CAZ-compliant vehicle. Despite being a registered charity, they are charged £9 per day for bringing essential items to those in need, which adds strain to their limited resources, the link is here: CAZ Compliant Donation
We’re giving our time and looking for your support and I hope you can join us in making a difference. I’ll be sharing more in due course but if you could donate today and help us support HHB’s mission to provide essential aid to the homeless community in Bristol it would mean a lot.
